So, nearly the end of Jan and 78 for me - only 14 short of last years total (which began in April'10 really, but very pleased). Did not know Mitch was doing these updates on his list and loved the detail on the Willow Tit. Darn, I need one bad. Got goosed up this week with good research and local birder chats. You really have to look hard to distinguish White Fronted and Pink Legged at distance from grey lag (interesting). Annoyed by Orwins Yellow-Legged. Only just realised they existed so need to look closer at things that look like Herring Gulls. Got the usual Barn Owl for a minute as it hunted. Cant' believe Mith struggles on this one. I too am down to only a few guaranteeds that are missing and then Spring and hard work required. A Green woodpecker, pied wagtail and little grebe are the only obvious ones not on the list for me. Looking forward to a joint venture and will offer Chris big money for all those Dippers - perhaps a stop off between our Spring venues. Not had one for 27 years when Pete Lenthall's (?) dad sorted it! Over and out. SjS
